Our History
New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church began in the Andrews Chapel School in the fall of 1950 when Roy Ouzts and Macy Goodman obtained permission to conduct revival services in the school building. The revival proved to be effective and people expressed an interest in establishing a church. On November 30, 1950, legal papers were signed making the school building and surrounding land the property of the Upper South Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. And so began the Andrews Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Andrews Chapel was officially organized on Sunday, December 24, 1950 with thirteen charter members. The church's first pastor was Rev. G. Ollie Madden and the assistant pastor was Rev. Roscoe Bryan. Rev. Madden pastored the church until his death in 1971. After a year, Rev. Bryan accepted the pastorate of a church in Augusta, GA, but returned to pastor the Andrews Chapel Church from May 1989 to July 1994. Other pastors include Rev. Charles Crawford, Rev. James Young, and Dr. Phillip Morris. The current pastor is Rev. Tim Ellenberg. In 1994 the name of the church was changed to New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church.
